How do I get a security guard license in Toronto?

In Toronto, security guards must pass the Ontario Security Guard Licence exam that adheres to the standards that the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional services (MCSCS) sets out. Once you’ve passed your exam, you can apply for your license, and then apply for jobs. Our online security guard training is designed to prepare you for your exam. You are also required in addition to our security guard course training to take a one day Emergency Level First Aid and CPR Training. This will make sure you’re prepared to handle any medical emergencies that may arise while on the job.

How long will it take me to get a security guard license?

That’s up to you! The course is online and flexible and 40 hours in length. The security course accounts for 33.5 hours and the remaining 6.5 hours are for the emergency level first aid training. The schedule is flexible, so take as much or as little time as you need to complete the modules, take your exam and apply for your security guard license.
