First Aid & CPR Training in Windsor: Building Skills for a Career in Security

Getting your security guard licence is the first step toward entering the industry. Being prepared for what happens once you’re on the job is just as important.

At Security Guard Course Inc., we’ve helped thousands of Canadians complete their training and work toward obtaining their security guard licence. Our goal is not only to help students meet training requirements, but to prepare them for the responsibilities that come with working in security.

First Aid and CPR skills are an important part of that preparation.

And for students and security professionals in Southwestern Ontario, accessing this training just became easier.

One4All First Aid & CPR has opened its newest Ontario training location in Windsor, providing hands-on First Aid, CPR and AED training at:

CAW Student Centre, Room 206
401 Sunset Avenue, Windsor, ON N9B 3P4

Why First Aid Skills Matter in Security

Security guards are responsible for helping protect people, property and information across a wide variety of environments.

Depending on the role, a guard could work at a retail property, office building, construction site, warehouse, residential community, healthcare facility or major event.

And sometimes, the incident you’re responding to isn’t a traditional security issue at all.

Someone could collapse. A visitor could begin choking. An employee could be injured. A person could experience a cardiac emergency.

In situations like these, security personnel may be among the first people available to respond.

First Aid and CPR training provides practical skills that help security professionals recognize an emergency, take appropriate action, and provide assistance within the scope of their training until emergency medical services arrive.

Security Training Should Prepare You for the Real Job

It’s easy to think of security guard training as something you complete so you can write an exam and get your licence.

But the knowledge and skills you develop have a much bigger purpose.

Working as a security guard requires communication, professionalism, situational awareness, and sound decision-making. You need to understand your responsibilities and know how to respond appropriately when circumstances change.

Emergency preparedness fits naturally into that skill set.

First Aid and CPR training gives you practical experience responding to another type of situation you could encounter during a security shift — one where staying calm and knowing what to do can matter.

You can find current course availability and upcoming dates on the One4All Windsor training page.

From Knowing the Steps to Practising the Response

First Aid and CPR aren’t skills you want to practise for the first time during an actual emergency.

That’s why hands-on training matters.

One4All courses combine instruction with hands-on training and live demonstrations, allowing students to practise First Aid, CPR and AED skills in a supportive learning environment.

For security professionals, that experience complements the decision-making and situational awareness developed through security guard training.

You can’t predict exactly what will happen during a shift. Training helps you become better prepared for whatever does.

One4All’s courses are also WSIB-approved and follow current best practices.

Which First Aid Course Is Right for You?

The First Aid training you need will depend on your circumstances, including where you’re working, your employer’s requirements, your security guard training pathway, and any certification you already hold.

Before registering, make sure you understand which course is appropriate for your needs.

If you’re unsure about the available options, One4All’s First Aid & CPR Training Guide explains the different course types and certification options.
